Mobile operators providing services as per required standards: PTA

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Telecommunication authority Friday said that all the mobile operators were providing services as per required standards.

According to officials, a comprehensive Quality of Service (QoS) Survey of 2G and Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) was carried out in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Peshawar to check voice and NGMS QoS as per the required standards.

During the survey, NGMS services of Mobilink, Telenor Ufone and Zong were tested whereas voice and SMS services of all the mobile operators were checked.
Results of the testing revealed that the data throughput of Zong 4G is the highest among all NGMS licensees, PTA media official revealed.

A top official of the authority said that voice services of all mobile operators were tested to check the availability of services, congestion, drop call rate, call connection time and voice quality.
Results of the survey revealed that service availability and voice quality for all the mobile operators is as per the required standards, official said.

He said Short Message Service (SMS) of mobile operators was tested for SMS successful delivery and that the SMS is received within a specified time.
All mobile operators are delivering SMS earlier than the standard delivery time.

However, this revelation came as surprise to many as most of the consumers in twin cities and Peshawar complains of bad signals and slow internet.

When PTA bosses were asked, they insisted that the results were genuine and users should register a complaint with PTA, if they face any problem.

“We have checked the service quality in different areas and found the services satisfactory.
” top official said.

However, PTA officials preferred not to disclose the locations where the tests were carried out.
Neither the names of officials who witnessed the tests were shared by the authority.
